Artist Statement

Art makes the world a beautiful and creative place. It brings people together and allows people to express themselves in amazing ways. I grew up loving all sorts of art; whether it be drawing, painting, or taking pictures, art allowed me to show my creative side and bond with others through this. I think the purpose of photography is to find meaning in certain moments, and hold on to that meaning forever by creating an image out of it. I really enjoy photographing images with a lot of detail. By photographing up-close, one can really capture all of the little flaws and perfections of something. I think photography is a great form of art because it creates memories and allows people to see that memory over and over again. A great artist that has inspired me is Edward Weston.  I find the details in his images very powerful and interesting. Through his images he transforms objects such as fruits and vegetables into much more. I also admire Tim Laman, a man who photographs for national geographic, for capturing the beauty of nature. He finds the most beautiful things in nature and is able to preserve them forever through a photograph. Besides these photographers, I am inspired by my family and friends, the people who make my days so fun and unforgettable. In life, I have many hopes and goals. I hope to successfully finish high school and attend a college that I will love. I also can’t wait to have a family of my own later in life, and hopefully exploring different places that the world has to offer.
